These End User Terms explain how you may use Vouchsafe’s verification services and what to expect when your details are checked.
By continuing with a verification that uses Vouchsafe, you agree to these terms.
1. Who we are
Vouchsafe provides identity, age, address, and related verification services.
We provide these services on behalf of organisations such as lenders, employers, service providers, or other businesses (“the organisation”). We do not usually decide whether you are accepted, rejected, or approved for anything.
2. Who we act for
Vouchsafe carries out checks at the request of an organisation.
That organisation decides:
- why a check is needed
- which checks to run
- what happens if a check succeeds, fails, or needs review
Vouchsafe provides verification results and signals to support those decisions, but we do not make the final decision.
3. When these terms apply
These terms apply whenever:
- you complete a verification using Vouchsafe; or
- your details are checked using Vouchsafe as part of an application you have made to an organisation.
Some checks may happen with your direct involvement. Others may happen in the background as part of an application or assessment process.
4. Eligibility and age
You must be legally able to use the service and to provide the information requested.
There is no age requirement to use Vouchsafe itself, but some checks are designed to confirm whether you meet an age requirement. If you do not meet that requirement, the organisation may refuse to proceed.
If you are acting as a referee in someone else’s verification, you need to be 18 or older.
5. What the service does
Vouchsafe helps organisations verify information such as:
- your identity
- your age
- your address
- whether information you provide matches trusted data sources
No verification method is perfect. Results are based on the information available at the time and may be probabilistic rather than absolute.
6. Your responsibilities
When being verified with Vouchsafe, you must:
- provide accurate information that relates to you
- use genuine, unaltered documents
- not impersonate another person
- not submit information you know to be false or misleading
You must not attempt to bypass, interfere with, or misuse the service.
7. Verification outcomes
A verification may result in outcomes such as:
- completed
- incomplete
- referred for review
- not verified
What happens next depends on the organisation requesting the check. Vouchsafe does not control or override their decision.
Some checks are carried out using automated systems. Your rights in relation to automated processing are explained in our Privacy Policy.
8. Your data
Vouchsafe processes personal data to provide verification services.
This may include:
- information you provide directly
- information from documents or images
- information obtained from trusted third-party data sources
Details about what data we process, why we process it, and how long we keep it are set out in our Privacy Policy, which applies alongside these terms.
9. Data sharing
Verification results are shared with the organisation that requested the check.
We may also share data with trusted third-party services that help us deliver the verification, or where required by law or trust framework rules. More detail is provided in the Privacy Policy.
10. Refusal or suspension of service
We may refuse to carry out a verification, or stop a verification in progress, if:
- the information provided appears fraudulent or misleading
- the service is being misused
- we are required to do so by law or trust framework rules
11. Complaints and questions
If you have questions about a verification or how it was used, you should usually contact the organisation that asked for the check.
If you have questions about how Vouchsafe operates the verification service, you can contact us using the details in our Privacy Policy.
Concerns about how your personal data is handled should be raised in line with the Privacy Policy.
12. Liability
Vouchsafe provides verification services with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for:
- decisions made by organisations using verification results
- outcomes of applications, assessments, or checks carried out by those organisations
Nothing in these terms affects rights you may have under consumer protection or data protection law.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these End User Terms from time to time. The version shown to you during a verification applies to that verification.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
