This document explains the rules for using Vouchsafe’s identity verification and vouching services. It includes terms for both end users and client organisations.

How we make money
- Vouchsafe is free for individuals.
- We make money by charging businesses to check the identity details of their customers.
- Our system is built so that only the user can access their data. We cannot sell user data to third parties.
Terms and conditions for end users
These rules apply to people who use Vouchsafe for personal reasons. By using the Service, you agree to follow these rules. If you don’t agree, please don’t use our Service.

1. Access
1.1 Personal use: You can use Vouchsafe for personal, non-commercial reasons. You cannot transfer this right to anyone else.
1.2 Follow the law: You must follow all laws and rules when using the Service. Don’t use the Service for anything illegal.
1.4 Keep your account safe: You are responsible for keeping your account safe. Report unauthorised account use to privacy@vouchsafe.id.
2. Misuse
2.1 Misuse of Service: Vouchsafe may take action against users who misuse the service. We do not accept a duty of care to users.
2.2 No guarantees: Use of Vouchsafe does not guarantee vetting or trust by Vouchsafe or any associated business.
2.3 Suspension for misuse: We may suspend users for proven misuse, including:
- Serious criminal offences (violence or significant financial harm).
- Fraudulent account creation or operation.
- Material breach of Terms and Conditions.
2.4 Reconsideration: New valid evidence proving a user was not guilty of misuse may result in revocation of suspension.
2.5 Examples of misuse:
- Committing a crime.
- Coercion.
- False representation.
- Fraudulent identity onboarding.
2.6 Fair action: We will consider all evidence in cases of misuse.
2.7 Fraud checks: We conduct fraud checks when users provide information or biometric data.
2.8 Reports of misuse: We act on reputable reports, such as court judgments and police reports.
2.9 User-reported misuse: Users who report misuse will be advised to contact the police or relevant authorities.
2.10 Record-keeping: We store records of blocked/suspended accounts and review them quarterly.
3. Availability of the Service
3.1 Service availability: We aim to keep the Service running smoothly but may experience maintenance or network issues.
3.2 Maintenance notices: We will notify users of scheduled maintenance in advance.
3.3 Changes to terms: We may update these terms. Continuing to use the Service implies acceptance of the new terms.
4. Intellectual Property Rights
4.1 Ownership: Vouchsafe owns all rights to software, documents, and materials provided with the Service.
4.2 Restrictions: Users may not copy, change, or reverse-engineer the Service.
5. Data Protection and Privacy
5.1 Privacy commitment: We protect your personal data.
5.2 Privacy policy: By using the Service, you agree to our Privacy Policy. Data will be processed lawfully.
5.3 Breach notification: We will inform you of any data breaches affecting your information.
5.4 Correction rights: Users can request corrections to inaccurate personal data by emailing privacy@vouchsafe.id.
5.5 Deletion rights: Users can request data deletion by emailing privacy@vouchsafe.id.
5.6 Objection rights: Users can object to data processing by emailing privacy@vouchsafe.id.
5.7 Restriction rights: Users can request restriction of data processing under certain conditions.
5.8 Portability rights: Users can request their data in a machine-readable format by emailing privacy@vouchsafe.id.
6. Limitation of Liability
6.1 No warranties: The Service is provided “as is.”
6.2 Liability limits: We are not liable for indirect or punitive damages.
7. Indemnities
7.1 User responsibility: Users agree to indemnify Vouchsafe against claims from misuse or violation of terms.
8. Publicity
8.1 Marketing use: Anonymised data may be used for marketing and research.
8.2 Opt-out: Users can opt-out by contacting privacy@vouchsafe.id.
9. Force Majeure
9.1 Force majeure defined: Events beyond our control, like natural disasters or government actions.
9.2 No liability: We are not responsible for disruptions due to force majeure.
9.3 Resumption of service: We will restore services as soon as possible.
9.4 Extended events: Either party may terminate the agreement if force majeure lasts more than 60 days.
10. Complaints and Disputes
10.1 Complaints: Contact help@vouchsafe.id for disputes.
10.2 In-app support: Use the app’s support function.
10.3 Regulatory body: Complaints can be filed with the ICO.
11. Termination
11.1 User termination: Users may stop using the Service at any time.
11.2 Termination by Vouchsafe: We may suspend or terminate access for rule violations.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by English law. Disputes will be handled by English courts.
