Introducing Vouchsafe’s public preview

We’re excited to announce that Vouchsafe is now available for organisations to try out.
Since May, we’ve been working closely with our first batch of customers to refine how Vouchsafe works.
Vouchsafe provides inclusive identity verification: it’s the first product of its kind that can verify the identity of everyone in society, with or without photo ID.
The headline feature is biometric vouching. A user without photo ID can ask for help from someone who has: who we call a referee. Referees verify their own identity, and then confirm who the user is.
We put checks and controls around this process to maintain the high anti-fraud standards our government and financial sector clients need.
Vouchsafe works for everyone, including the 1 in 5 adults in the UK who struggle to pass traditional ID checks. The 1 in 5 includes:
- young people
- full-time carers
- people in vulnerable circumstances: homeless and formerly homeless, refugees, abuse survivors
All of these groups are more likely to lack government ID or have a thin credit file.
By including the final 1 in 5 in society, Vouchsafe is the first identification service you can use to verify everyone; unlocking more customers, users, staff and volunteers.
This is an incredible milestone, and we owe it to our newly expanded team: Khadija, Nkechi, Mariam, Nandita, Nicky, James and Judy.
This is a preview release, so there may be UI and cosmetic imperfections.

This preview version covers:
- biometric vouching, as well as support for plain old document verification (so you can verify anyone’s identity)
- a collaborative dashboard to manage verifications, and customise to fit your compliance needs
- API and no-code integration options
We’ll be making frequent improvements and new features over the next days, weeks and months, with a view to being available in general release before the end of the year.
