You can now easily verify UK eVisas using Vouchsafe’s APIs
TL;DR: You can now verify a customer’s UK immigration status, right to work, and right to rent using our new eVisa APIs.
We’ve now made it even easier to automatically verify the 4 million UK residents who hold eVisas.
We initially started out with a verification flow that our customers could use to verify eVisas, and we’ve now gone a step further to offer this feature programmatically. This means that for the first time ever, you can now verify a user’s eVisa in your own application.
Our new /verify/evisa endpoint allows you to verify a person’s immigration status, right to work, or right to rent by providing the person’s share code and date of birth. The share code can obtained by the individual from the UK Home Office online service.
This is the only fully automatic eVisa verification solution on the market. It’s not just a way to collect the share code, or a disguised manual process. We actually do the hard work of checking the eVisa itself from GOV.UK.
For a successful response, our API returns both the metadata extracted from the eVisa, along with a defined set of validations, and the download urls to get the artefacts, which have a 30 minute expiry.
The new endpoint is ready to use today. See the API documentation here, or check out our help centre article.
