Our mission is building the infrastructure for every business to trust fearlessly

Vouchsafe held our annual team day last week. It is one of my favourite days of the year.
For the most part, it looks like standard “away day” stuff; reflecting on our impact, setting direction for the year ahead.
But this time, we also used it to make an important update to our mission.
Our original invention was a simple way for people to prove who they are with the help of a trusted referee. Since then, we’ve developed and grown so much.
Today, Vouchsafe provides the core KYC and AML checks across a wide range of financial services, as well as verification and fraud-prevention infrastructure used across the private and public sectors. Through new partnerships with organisations such as incuto and InFact, we’re taking that reach even further.
Trust is harder to find than ever
The context we operate in is changing quickly.
AI-powered fraud is rising sharply, and identity fraud now accounts for more than half of all fraud cases in the UK. As this technology develops at lightning speed, we have and will always enjoy the challenge of overtaking it.
And it’s not just AI. At the same time, the government has set out a plan to deliver government-backed digital ID by 2029. The ubiquity of open banking, eVisas, and soon, mobile driving licences means that digital ID is here to not only stay, but grow. And we’re excited by it.
For nearly two years, we’ve used the phrase “trust infrastructure” in conversations around the office as a shorthand for the kind of company we want to build. That idea is the foundation of our updated mission.
What the mission means
When we say we’re building the infrastructure for every business to trust fearlessly, we mean technology that quietly powers how organisations verify, onboard and protect users.
It’s general-purpose infrastructure for trust, not just for financial services but for any sector that needs to know who they’re dealing with.
AI-powered fraud has made every organisation, regardless of size, a potential target. Our tools make strong defences accessible to all; simple to use, fairly priced and effective straight out of the box.
Trust shouldn’t only be available to those with a large compliance team or deep technical resources.
And we don’t accept the legacy thinking that there’s a trade-off between security and inclusion. By drawing on richer digital evidence and verified data, we make it possible to trust confidently without locking people out.
Looking ahead
Our mission captures what we’ve been building towards all along. Yes, it’s ambitious, but it’s also practical, and it connects directly to the vision that continues to guide us:
To create a world where trust is effortless, fraud is futile, and everyone can prove who they are.
