Vouchsafe vs Jumio in-depth comparison
How is Vouchsafe different?
1. Works out of the box for UK financial services
Vouchsafe is built specifically for the needs of regulated firms in the UK, from account opening through to transaction monitoring.
It solves the entire KYC/AML use case, not just photo ID scans.
We provide compliant, battle-tested templates aligned to FCA and JMLSG guidance, so you can get set up quickly without having to design and configure custom flows.
2. We prioritise digital ID acceptance
Vouchsafe is already the only platform that can automatically accept and verify the 4 million eVisas in the UK, and we are adding support for new forms of digital ID as they are released, including mobile driving licences and EU digital wallets.
Vouchsafe asks for these first, which speeds up onboarding and cuts your exposure to forged or manipulated documents.
3. More capable address verification
Vouchsafe verifies address in two ways. First, by checking with officia data registers like credit bureaus.
If there is no record, we seamlessly fall back to asking for one of many proof of address letters. We validate that the information on the letter is consistent and that will pass a regulatory audit before accepting it.
This is instant for the vast majority of customers who have credit records, and safer for you.
4. Simple pricing, with a free trial
Vouchsafe is built for businesses of all sizes, not just big enterprises.
You can get a free 14 day trial to see if you like it, with no credit card needed. If you like it, pricing is fair and transparent, with no expensive annual commitment or sales negotiation needed.
Comparing Jumio and Vouchsafe
Identity verification
Vouchsafe and Jumio both offer capable identity verification using a range of photo ID from around the world.
Both platforms accept at least one document from over 200 countries. Jumio is an American company which focuses on the most popular documents only.
However, Vouchsafe offers much better support for rare and UK-only documents, including CitizenCard and Young Scot cards.
Vouchsafe also provides automatic eVisa support; an industry first. If your use case involves UK residents who have come from overseas, Vouchsafe is the obvious choice.
eKYC and background checks
Both Vouchsafe and Jumio run an extensive suite of background fraud checks and validations on the person being verified.
Vouchsafe is alone in also offering Smart Lookups; a way to run silent checks on a set of customer details entirely in the background, checking official data sources like credit bureau data.
With smart lookups, you can run a quick, upfront risk analysis before asking a customer for evidence.
Address verification
Jumio and Vouchsafe both offer address verification.
Jumio’s address verification is offered via their Doc Proof product. It accepts a wide range of documents, including bank statements and utility bills.
It depends heavily on the user submitting a suitable document and that document being read correctly.
By contract, Vouchsafe reduces reliance on uploaded documents by checking official data first, and using a reliable document fallback only for edge cases.
Pricing
Jumio’s pricing is based on negotiation and minimum commitments, so there is not much public info about it.
One of the few public data points comes from AWS Marketplace, and offers a price of $1.50 per check, with a $37,500 minimum annual commitment.
Vouchsafe’s pricing is public, £399/month, or the equivalent of just 99p per check, less with volume. There is also a free 14 day trial with no credit card or sales call needed.
Integrations
Jumio and Vouchsafe both offer an API included with no extra cost, as well as SDKs for popular programming languages.
Vouchsafe further offers no-code integrations with over 8,000 tools via Zapier. Jumio is targeted at large enterprises with specialist integration teams, so does not provide equivalent no-code support.
Support
Both Jumio and Vouchsafe offer good quality business support, with a dedicated account manager. Support channels include email, live in-app chat and a shared Slack channel.
Vouchsafe is unique in also offering end-user support as standard, to get all your users verified.
Security and compliance
Both Jumio and Vouchsafe hold industry standard security certifications such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.
However, Jumio is not certified to the UK’s digital verification services trust framework; the major scheme that governs digital identity companies in the UK.
The government has made it clear that firms that need to follow money laundering rules, like banks, lenders, law firms and accountants, should use a DVS-certified vendor.
Those who don’t are not breaking the law, but are taking on extra risk that will be harder to defend in an audit or enforcement action.
Vouchsafe is certified to the DVS trust framework annually, most recently in April 2026.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Vouchsafe cost?
Vouchsafe costs £399/month for your first 6000 checks; the equivalent of less than one pound per check.
You can buy bundles of discounted tokens if you expect heavier usage.
There is also a free 14 day trial, with no credit card or sales call needed.
How important is UK DVS certification?
The UK DVS trust framework was put on a legal standing when the Data (Use and Access) Act was passed by Parliament in late 2025.
It establishes strict rules for handling and protecting personal data, which certified vendors are audited against every year.
It’s a legal requirement to use a certified vendor for purposes like right to work, right to rent and DBS checks.
It is not yet legally required to use a certified vendor for KYC/AML, but it is strongly recommended, and will become a requirement in future.
What are some other alternatives for KYC/AML?
There is no shortage of vendors that can help with KYC/AML. Some popular ones are Yoti, Persona, GBG, ComplyAdvantage and Stripe.
To make sense of the crowded market, we recommend choosing a vendor that:
- can solve the whole problem, rather than stitching together several subscriptions
- prioritises digital ID acceptance, so you won’t have to switch in the next year or two as digital ID becomes the default
- knows your sector and target markets well, to make sure you get the highest conversion rates possible
Vouchsafe is a complete trust and counter-fraud platform for financial services firms in the UK.
